Tom Fransway

Tom Fransway is a life-long Nevadan with a strong commitment to its land and people. His decades of public service include five terms as a Humboldt County commissioner, more than 20 years as a volunteer firefighter and eight years as a Nevada Department of Transportation board member representing most of rural Nevada.

Tom is recognized throughout the state for his dedicated work ethic. As a commissioner he was instrumental in founding the Humboldt River Basin Water Authority to protect and preserve the waters of the Humboldt River for the benefit of northern Nevada counties through which the river runs.

He worked on numerous public lands issues through the Nevada Association of Counties, statewide and nationally, on matters concerning full funding of PILT (the federal government’s responsibility to fund governments impacted by federal lands). He fought to limit the impact of federal regulation and wilderness on ranching and mining while promoting the retention of a strong economy for the future of northern Nevada.

As a commissioner Tom served on numerous community boards governing emergency management, the hospital, economic development, fair and recreation and recognized Humboldt County veterans with the establishment of a veterans memorial on Highway 95.

Professionally Tom worked in outside maintenance for Nevada Bell and AT&T for 30 years.

After retiring from AT&T Tom invested in commercial real estate and now owns and manages leased properties.

Tom takes the public trust seriously. His years of experience and his record of conservative fiscal responsibility qualify him to serve you in the state assembly.
